Privacy — Wisdom Lab

This is a non-commercial academic research project. Short version: we store your chosen nickname and your proverb judgments; published research data is anonymized; we never sell or share anything.

Age

We ask that you are 16 or over, or have an adult's permission, and we take your word for it. We do not ask your age, record it, or check it. Proverbs are common property and we would rather not turn reading them into an identity check.

The activity is reading published sayings and choosing a label. Material containing adult language is withheld from the game. If you are a parent or guardian and would like a participant's judgments removed, write to the address below and we will delete them.

Who is responsible

What we process, and why

• Your nickname — shown on the leaderboard and linking your judgments together. Please use a nickname rather than your full name if you prefer.
• Your judgments (which proverb pairs you rated, the rating, the time) — the scientific purpose of the platform.
• Technical data (IP address) — held briefly in memory for abuse prevention (rate limiting) and in standard server logs; not linked to your judgments by us.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in conducting open academic research (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)); participation is entirely voluntary.

Publication and retention

Judgments are published as open scientific data with nicknames replaced by neutral identifiers (e.g. "annotator_2"). The research database is kept for the duration of the project; backups are retained up to 30 days beyond deletion.

Hosting

Servers are provided by netcup GmbH (Germany) under a GDPR data-processing agreement.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction, or deletion of the data linked to your nickname at any time — one email suffices. You may also complain to a supervisory authority (in Romania: ANSPDCP).
